2010 Table Shows

After the popularity of our Table Shows last year, we will continue these at our monthly meetings in 2010. Points are awarded and winners announced on the night of the respective Table Show. Trophies will be awarded at the end of the year. Donations are sought for trophies, and it would be a good opportunity for members to advertise their Aviaries and Businesses, for example 'Joes Aviaries Trophy' awarded for Australian Parrot Table Show. All trophies are perpetual - they must be returned each year, and the winner's names will be engraved and dated on the trophy. For further information, please feel free to contact Bob Grant on 4666 1627 or Terry White on 3814 3791.

The Show Committee encourages as many entries as possible. Anyone is welcome to show birds or just to have a look, whether new to our hobby or an experienced Aviculturist. Our aim is to promote Aviculture and showing birds. By continuing Table Shows in 2010, hopefully we will improve the knowledge of showing birds and maintaining good standards of breeds and mutations.

Details:

Points will be awarded for the following each table show,

Champion- 6 points
Reserve Champion- 5 Points
1st- 4 points
2nd- 3 points
3rd- 2 points
1 point will also be awarded for each entry.

Entries welcome from members and non-members. Club members free. Non members $1 per entry.

No seed or water is to be placed into the cages. This may seem cruel, but our Table Shows are short and take place at night when your birds would not normally be eating nor drinking. Placing food and water in the show cages will create mess and a hygiene problem for the school children and staff.

There is no need to pre-register your entries, just register them on the night. However, have your entries registered and benched between 7.15 and 7.45pm, as entries will not be accepted after that to permit the meeting to commence.

As well as having a formal judge, we will also pick a guest judge out of the audience each night. This is a fun way to get people's different thoughts on judging, and also helps to teach bird keepers how to prepare and breed birds for show.
